Molehill REAL 3D FLASH API

Hell, yes. Adobe is really taking steps forward when it comes to turning flash into a proper application platform. When they got it from macromedia it was more of an animation system then anything.

This also breaks down the need to use shockwave for this level of 3d acceleration on the net. (with the exception of other plugins like Java and Unity). But that brings about another discussion on if Shockwave itself will soon be obsolete.

Edit:

Too bad it's not coming til 2011.

Hopefully they will also integrate some kind of physics engine (bullet? havok?) that can be accessed through similar API's, as they did with Director. The only catch to the 3d engine they have built here would be physics under a VM with miserable performance. Native physics + this = win.

It was a pretty obvious step they were going to do with Flash. It looks similar to modern-consoles, yet its still not as detailed.

Looks interesting, guess we gotta wait though.

They had 3D capabilities in shockwave, what came of that?

I pray tirnua.com play with this to improve their quality of graphics. Looks sweet.

You should create a thread with all the active MMO's you know. it seems every day you find another haha.

Regarding molehill, I am excited for it. I think it will give flash another boost and hopefully encourage some hardware vendors to take it on board. It will also be nice to have full leverage of the GPU in a browser based game in a language that I am already fairly fond of. Who knows there could be a GTA written specifically just for flash that anyone can play from anywhere.

The possibilities are endless

I disagree, I don't believe in Flash (I sound like Apple yes). But if they don't work on the battery drain and occasional high CPU then it won't catch on.

I'm more interested in the Flash -> HTML5 tool.

The GTA idea is awesome. Would be great, considering they've expanded GTA on so many platforms already, this could be their next venture. At least, I hope it is.
