Apple just got owned.
Looks interesting, now nothing can stop us coding iPad apps in flash and letting users run them! We shall defy Apple!

Yes, but Apple didnt want Flash to be ran on the iPad for the reason that it may decline app store sales. My post was about them not wanting Flash because of that, but now it being rendered obsolete because of this converter.

So why do they support HTML 5? At the conference HTML 5 was demoed on the devices with applications in Safari.

Sam has a point.
Apple may not know about this "flash without plugins"
Apples main aim was to remove flash - so that people had to use the app store or HTML 5 (fairly new and not used as much), meaning revenue.
Now flash can still be used, via HTML 5. So the app-store can still be skipped once in a while for flash instead.

They didnt want Flash because it has been proven to kill battery & have poor performance.

And the fact it allowed people to run native code inside apples walled garden without it being approved by apple

Once again, so why allow HTML 5?
Firstly as Shadow said Flash decimates the iPhones battery life and Apple want to kill Flash just like they did floppy drives, not to mention that Flash on mobiles is extremely buggy. Flash on Android is appalling.
