Dear Users,
Thank you for being patient with us whilst we worked hard to resolve the issues recently presented to us.
This post will consist of a quick explaination of what went wrong, and quickly followed by lots of exciting and great news!
So, what happened? Was it them blasted pirates?
However much I would love to blame the issues on the pirates, I'm afraid this was an error on our behalf. Following the launch of Release 3, some users experienced problems reading their private messages. In the early hours of yesturday morning, Trent upgraded the server with several fixes for this, and other issues.
These fixes seemed to have fixed the issues our users were reporting, but seemed to play havok on our databases!
Sounds BAD?!?! Was any of my account information effected?
The short answer, no. None of our users information was effected, however it caused both a long and short term effect. The short term effect was that the server was telling all users that their balance was '126'. The long term effect was that our transaction history was 'out-of-sync' with what our users account information was telling us!
So, what does this mean?
In a nutshell, our transaction history for item purchases were too innacurate to be able to successfully resolve any future purchase queries presented to us from our users.
In order to stop this problem from deepening, we took the impulse decision to immediately 'lock down' all our data. As such, user registrations were halted, the purchase pages removed, and the gaming servers switched off. This has enabled us to successfully find the cause of the problem, and we are hopeful that everything is now resolved...
Wow... that's confusing! So, where was this great news you promised us?!?!
Well, during our down-time, we have decided to reconsider our pricing structure on some aspects of our game. We have always had a company ethos that we should listen to our users opinions, and it is exactly that which we have done!
The cost of all floor tiles have now been halfed!. Tiles will still be sold in bundles worth 1B, 10B and 100B, although you will now receive 2-tiles, 20-tiles and 200-tiles respectively. Additionally, the cost of walls and backgrounds have also been reduced!
The cost of items has not changed, as we feel these are crucial to establishing an economy within the game. Without a variety of prices, trading would perhaps never take off! Don't fret! - We have listened to your opinions, and we will consider this when adding further items to the game! You asked for more lower priced items, and you will get them!
How about some REALLY good news?!
We want to apologise for the downtime we experienced so quickly after the launch of release 3. We can think of no better way than to re-credit all bits back to your BittyBay accounts, that have been spent since the launch of Release 3!
Wait a minute?! Are you mad?
Quite possibly... But it's true! If you spent 1B, or 10,000B on BittyBay since we launched Release 3, we are going to give these bits back to you! Yup! They will be back in your piggybank ready for when you log back in!
But what about my furniture? And my rooms?
You can keep them! Any furniture you bought since Release 3 will remain within your account, and all rooms you created are yours. So basically, everything you have made or purchased since November 30th, you can have for FREE. This also extends to any membership, digging spades or avatars you purchased.
Well, there you have it... I told you we had some great news! You didn't believe me right?
BittyBay will be going live again anytime within the next 24hrs... Keep your eyes peeled!
