Been playing around with it for a couple of days.
God awful way of laying out a desktop operating system tbh, the metro panel is shit and awfully hard to work. Even shutting down requires you go to the settings penal first, then shut down!
Some of it has improved though, its very good on RAM usage and aero has been nicely polished, it is much better looking.

Very much agree, although it looks pretty - i dont think it will function well.
Personally i have not had a chance to download the developers preview (my internet is c***) but from what i have seen and heard, it does not function as well as people expected.
Looks as though it will be 5 star for tablets though... too bad about desktop and laptop users (laptops especially!) "/

It looks okay, but I prefer how Windows 7 and previous Windows looked.

Oh and I forgot to mention, uber fast loading times!
12s on my 5 year old laptop...

I tried it out under VMware and I thought it was total crap. I also saw a preview at CES in Las Vegas and from what I've seen, they are catering towards the tablet market only. Laptop/Desktop users aren't gonna want a massive start screen or let alone touch screen functionality when a laptop/desktop doesn't even have a touch screen. I guess the saying holds true, Microsoft ruins every other version of Windows it's released~
Besides the fast loading times, there's nothing about it that I want, unless of course, I owned a tablet.

Looks slightly uglier in my opinion but, I've definitely gotta check this out - downloading the preview now . Thanks for the screenshots .

Hope you don't mind Kai, but I'd like to ask a few questions for personal optimization (I'm running it on Oracle VM VirtualBox, so still getting the settings right):
Have you installed it as your root OS, or as a guest OS via virtual drive?
You say it works very fast so - if run as root OS - what specs have you got on your laptop?
I've actually been on it for a while now and, despite my initial reactions, I'm slightly impressed with the layout and the speed. Though, I'm still thinking they might have went a little far with the windows live integration...
