In your opinion, what is some software you find absolutely essential to building or running a successful MMOG. Obviously, some people perfer custom-made solutions so feel free to post why you'd perfer a custom-made solution for that department (or for the whole project).

Discuss.

GIMP for graphics (http://gimp.org)
FlashDevelop for Client (http://fashdevelop.org)
NetBeans for Server (http://netbeans.org)
MySQL for DB (http://mysql.com)

And, one million notepads and a billion pens (http://www.whsmith.co.uk)

What about customer service, project management, content management system (CMS (If you choose to have one)), internal/ external communications etc?
