Came Happy, stayed

Hi MF,

This could very well be my last post on these forums because simply of some of the people around these forums.

The majority of you I have became great friends with & I'm very happy about that. When I came to these forums (before I was registered) I was looking at the posts, a friendly, nice community.

So why couldn't I have a MMO? I could, I would need to find a coder and a graphics artist. I continued at it, playing games, having fun until when I released information about my game, there was lots of criticism. Of course there's always criticism but not long ago this place was a happy, enjoyable place. There is one or two particular people who ruined it for me. I came to this forum for support, help & ideas and left with a very bad look into people. Every single Admin of this MMO Forum has done there job, but really, are the users doing theres? It may be only one or two but it ruins it for all.

Honestly, this is pathetic. For one, you should learn to take criticism of all kinds and not let it get to you. My old MMOs, I got tonnes of criticism for, half of it not constructive at all. But I took it in and listened. This is a quote from CakeTroll on your other thread.

People are just confused over the different projects you're running. If you just explained the real situation to people in a professional and polite manner then maybe they would of understood and apologized.

That sums it all up. I even said I liked your art and client, I havent said one bad word about your game since you re-joined. I know im "one of the two that ruined it for you". But that's life. I never gave up, you shouldn't either. People say shit, you ignore it and continue. If I listened to some of the horrible things that were said to me in the past I wouldn't be here today, and I'd be an emotional wreck in my personal life.

Phil, can you actually give us an example of something someone has said to make you leave? Because at the moment I don't really see a reason why you should leave, nobody has said any bad points to your game (not from what I've seen anyway).

It's just the way you handled the situation in that other thread, I don't know if you've had a long day or you've just woke up or something (I forgot your timezone XD) but you really needed to 'chill out'! I hope you decide to stay in the end because you are one of the people who've kept this forum on the actual topic of MMOCCs, even with the odd 'bad' post. Everyone has a bad day!

Don't do what I did a while ago.

You can't escape MF.

MF is all about constructive criticism. It's meant to be an open and friendly environment to share your ideas and get feedback on your MMO projects. If you have an issue with a member, you're always welcome to PM an admin and let one of us know so we can deal with the issue.

We try to stop any fights or flames as fast as possible, but we're only human and we can't stop every single one. We also get bad rep when we try to stop a fight by closing a thread, so lately we've just let people at it more or less, which seems to have worked. But the thing is, you shouldn't take it personally.

Every game that's been started on here has received some criticism at one point or another, it's just a fact of life. You can't please everyone. But what you can do, is take the criticism and feedback, and put it to use. For example, if a bunch of people complain about say.. the avatars, then you know that you should probably redo them, etc. But if someone is just saying they hate everything you do, that's not really criticism, that's being a jerk - which we can do something about if you inform us.

So whether or not you decide to stay on the forums is up to you, but just remember one thing.. we're all in this to help each other, hence why it's a forum about developing MMOs.

Ive seen something that has been said 'privately' to Yanz. You guys can go on about criticism but it was one person just vulgarly insulting Yanz.

In the past I didn't think Yanz project would go far, now my mind is changing. There is criticism then there is just plain abuse.

Some people on here have to stop thinking they are a god and just remember how it was to be in a beginners position. (About 1% of the active members)

This forum has always given criticism, sometimes over the top - but sometimes deserved.

You just get used to it...

This forum does give criticism. Back in the day every project that came along would get praise and everyone would be saying they cant wait (I came here under spongey121 in 2007 and thought games were coded in html...)

This community is unique and I have met some great people on here. Just take criticism, either listen to it or don't. You can always report anyone to an admin as Jason said.

Hope you don't leave as MF can be an amazing place.

Yep, and I've also heard of a few more projects coming along.. you don't want to miss them!

Please ignore what I've said in this thread, it had been a long day for me when I wrote this and would like to take everything back if you are willing to give me another chance. I promise I'll do my best to take criticism of any kind and hope to never make an outburst like this again. I've thought about the praise YanzCity has been getting and the sort of "improvement" to the quality of MF's posts now that mine and more mmoccs are popping up so i hope we can continue to make this a better place
