Ubuntu?

Okay so recently I have thought a lot about switching my operating system. I have searched the interwebz and saw that Ubuntu is completely free and is pretty good apparently. I was just wondering what some of you guys may suggest about Ubuntu ie. which version to use. Also I am open to other suggestions Also let's keep this thread free of OS wars. I just want feedback to see which I should go with.

I heard Ubuntu is a pretty awesome peice of software. And if you partition you can always switch back to ur current OS.

Yeah that's one of the big things I liked so that I can switch to Vista when I want/need to. I hope they have some kind of help section because I've never actually installed a OS before. D: I don't want to screw everything up. Keep the suggestions coming

Ubuntu is actually an amazing operating system. Granted, it's not as easy to use as Windows or Mac (what with most of the things on there being command line based, e.g. installing programs), but it gets the job done, is secure and is looks very good.
And yeah, dual booting is always an option. :]

I have also been thinking about switchhing. My main problem is getting my software to work like

Adobe Master Suite CS3
Office 2007
etc.

Yeah, that's why I'm trying to find out how to run both Vista and Ubuntu so I can use my Vista programs while also having Ubuntu to experiment with a new OS. I've gotten quite bored with Windows so I think this move will refresh me with a new OS

Yes, I believe that Ubuntu comes with OpenOffice which is good because I always have trouble opening Mac documents from school. So far so good. Still reading about partitioning. Might install tonight or tomorrow. We'll see
