I like myBB.

Use the most recent version of whatever software. If you are limited in the software, don't use an old version just because it is available (IPB 1.3) as they may have security exploits.

A good one would be AEF - thats got WYSIWYG editor, plus heaps of other cool features - its pretty much one of the only ones matched with vBulletin and IPB thats just as good
