Interview with woky - Soku City Project Director
Hello woky, for those new to MMOCCForum could you please give us a brief outline of who you are and what Soku City is?
Well, I am Mark Daunis, the CEO of Soku City LLC. My main role at Soku City is project management. I oversee and direct nearly everything which takes place at Soku City. It's a wonderful job and I wouldn't change anything about it for the world. I simply love what I do.
Were there any problems that Soku was faced while making the new Soku City site? Which looks great by the way ;)
The hardest task we faced with the new layout was thinking of the concept. We didn't want to deliver a conventional layout with a banner and a few content boxes. I don't think we did anything near that - mission accomplished.
Who does the credit for the Soku City Home Page go to?
To see who contributed to the creation of the layout, simply click "credits" near the bottom right of the layout.
Could you tell us about the problem you and Soku faced with the people in charge of coding Soku?
Typical problems which are rapidly becoming expected from programming teams these days. I believe I said everything possible concering this matter in an earlier statement.
So what can you tell us about the merge between Soku and Jabba? We understand that you purchased part of Jabba Town? What parts of Jabba did you purchase and what are they being used for?
I will be giving all the details on the purchase in this month's edition of the Shinbun. For users who don't know what the Shinbun is, it's Soku City's monthly newsletter. You can find it by clicking the "community" icon, located on the SokuPDA menu. My article, along with many others, will be featured in the Shinbun on it's Christmas day release.
Where there any problems with the merge?
Apart from the few expected (and understandable) complaints from a few of JabbaTown's former users, I'd have to say the transition went rather smoothly.
Do you feel responsible for Jabba Town VIP's?
Actually, (legally) we are not. As you will see in my Shinbun article I mentioned eariler, we did not actually purchase JabbaTown LLC - we merely purchased all of it's contents. JabbaTown VIPs recieving Soku City OBT packages is just a courtesy, becuase in a sense I do feel obligated to make up for their losses.
How did you feel when Silver VIP's and below were upset about not getting OBT status on Soku?
I don't like being the bad guy, but you can't always satisfy everyone. All I can say is I'm sorry, in hopes that you will support us anyway.
Let's move onto the forums, how long has it been since the last Soku Fourms were closed?
I believe it's been around 3/4 months.
How do you think the opening of the Soku City Forums will affect the popularity and community of Soku?
I personally dislike forums, the return was only allowed becuase of popular demand. I think the community rather enjoys them, so it was a good move in my opinion. If it's what the community wants, it's usually what's best.
Do you think the users of soku will take the opening of your forums as a step backwards?
I'd say it's a step forward, our community is back. Soku City has people excited again, because there is once again a bright future to be excited about.
Thanks for your time and have a :\!
No problem, thank you for your intrest.
