Interview with Gaffa - Nitron City managing director

Can you give us a brief introduction about who you are, your community, and your position there?

Hello, as you all probably know by now my name is Gaffa. I am one of two managing directors at NitronCity, in my spare time I like to surf the net, practice my pixeling skills (I'm not too good), Meet up with my friends, watch TV and sleep

Favorite foods? Drinks? Movies? TV shows? Songs?

To be honest, I would eat anything

, my favorite drink has to be IRN-BRU (Scottish fizzy drink). My favorite film is one which I saw recently, Clerks II

. TV show(s)... anything by Matt Groening. I have a very mixed style of music taste, anything from Rhianna to Panic at the disco keeps me dancing

What would you consider your MMOCCs accomplishments up to this point?

I think that we have accomplished a lot at NitronCity, what I am most proud of are my staff, without them NitronCity would not be where it is today.

Any failures your chatting community has faced?

NitronCity closed for a while things just didn't seam right and we where all down hearted. However, things have changed and we are on the road to recovery

What led you to create Nitron City? Where did you get the name from?

A couple of years back, Fergie and I where always interested in running small web companies, Fergie was a HabboHotel fanatic and his MSN bot (BraveBot) was very popular, we started doing some research into the market and things took off from there... As for the name however, we wanted something new and exciting (so I put the word city into a domain spinner

) and that was that

What is your opinion on fan sites? Some tend to release classified information/graphics in order to promote themselves and gain traffic to their website. How will Nitron City deal with these types of sites?

The only way someone could get their hands on such graphics is to buy a CityClub subscription, when you enter the VIP lounge on the forum there is a post to explain the procedures taken if any of our images are stolen or used without permission from either Fergie or myself, if any fan site was caught doing so then we would look to our Legal Advisor and Community Manager (Kerny) to point us down the wrong path. Fan sites which follow the rules however I think are a great idea

Nitron City is a relatively new developing MMOCC, what are your plans to create a higher user base and grab new members to your community?

Right now we are only really worrying about the BETA client being released. A large community is a bonus at this moment in time, however we will devise some new marketing plan when BETA is released.

What stage is Nitron City at now in the developing process?

NitronCity is on it's way to the BETA stage of development, our skilled team of coders lead by Damien are working very hard to bring us BETA as soon as possible.

How will Nitron City stand out from all the other MMOCCs out there?

Hopefully, NitronCity will stand out from other MMOCCs, we do not exactly have an original graphic style, however we hope that people will realize that NitronCity is a fun place to be and the staff are enthusiastic and fun fun fun!

There have been a large amount of hopeful chats starting - which many end up failing. How will Nitron City try to avoid this stereotype of new MMOCCs failing within the first couple months? Will there be public previews of development graphic and programming wise? Anything we should look forward to?

Well, I can't give away too much however all I am going to say is BETA is coming and A LOT sooner than a lot of people think

Any MMOCCs you regularly visit other than Nitron City?

Other than NitronCity I will sometimes visit SokuCity as I am quite friendly with Woky.

How would you describe your moderation style?

The NitronCity moderators will all have a guide to follow, the guide will inform all moderators how to deal with the general public etc. Personally I would like for the moderators to be rather laid back but still enforce the rules and regulations.

Tell us something we don't already know about you.

Hmmm... I have UK size 9 feet? lol.

If you were to add one feature to any MMOCC, what would it be? Why?

I think a IM service would be a good feature rather than a PM service, it would make it easier to communicate with your friends in other areas of the virtual city town or whatever else it is

Any advice to those wanting to start their own virtual chat?

Don't expect an easy or free ride, there are a lot of overheads. As you know nothing in life comes free. You should also be prepared to give up a lot of spare time.

Where do you see the MMOCC market in ten years?

In ten years time I see the MMOCC market moving out of the pixel art stage, I see more advance graphics as computers become more advance and more able to handle a greater load.

Where do you see Nitron City in ten years?

Hopefully, it will be up there. Even if we do not reach the top we will still be there in 10 years time, alive and kicking.

What does the future hold for Mr. Gaffa?

University?.. Career?.. Wife?.. Children?.. Only time will tell...
