Interview with Valiant - Sole City Owner
Can you give us a brief introduction about who you are, your community, and your position there?
Hi, my name is Valiant and my community is called ‘Sole City’ and I am the founder/owner
Favorite foods? Drinks? Movies? TV shows? Songs?
My favourite food has to be Bangers and Mash.
My favourite drink happens to be Diet Coke (which I drink far too much of lol).
Hmmm, favourite movies? Off the top of my head; The Others, Scary movie(s) and Lord of The Rings.
My favourite TV shows are definitely Futurama, Lost, Prison Break.
And my favourite tune at the moment is… The Only Difference Between Martyrdom And Suicide Is Press Coverage - Panic! At The Disco
What would you consider your MMOCC's accomplishments up to this point?
Well, we’ve only been open for a few days but up to this point getting at least 100 visitors per day and having 30 Soles in the community forums already. Also, having what I believe to be, a very fast developing community and forums.
Any failures your chatting community has faced?
Again, in the short time that we have been open I don’t think it’s possible to have any failures, so, so far – No failures for us!
What led you to create Sole City? Where did you get the name from?
I had been thinking about it for ages and with the enjoyment I had got out of Habbo when I was younger, I thought it would be a fun journey to embark on. The name, it’s quite simple how we got the name – We thought how we would try to make something which is unique, but I don’t think ‘Unique City’ is that catchy so, seeing as another word for unique is Sole: Sole City was born!
What is your opinion on fan sites? Some tend to release classified information/graphics in order to promote themselves and gain traffic to their website. How will Sole City deal with these types of sites?
I think fan sites are a great way for the community to grow, and also for others to enjoy the experience further. With them tending to release classified information/graphics we will try to encourage them not to do this by releasing previews frequently onto our site which are free to be used by them. I think doing this will give our citizens more trust and belief in the progress of the city and will mean they won’t HAVE to release classified information and graphics.
Sole City is a relatively new developing MMOCC, what are your plans to create a higher user base and grab new members to your community?
Advertising and Word of Mouth, we’re hoping that people will see our ads on the web and out and about and visit the website and join the community, we also hope that our existing citizens will tell their mates about the community, and that is how we hope to grow.
What stage is Sole City at now in the developing process?
We are in the early stages of creating the first BETA, by early stages I mean creating the graphics and such.
How will Sole City stand out from all the other MMOCCs out there?
When anyone joins the client we intend to give them a starter pack of Furniture meaning to get into Sole City more doesn’t require you to spend money. Also we are hoping to make everything less expensive and much more user friendly, which means avoiding intimidating user interfaces and using language inside the City that our younger community may not understand very well.
Why should we buy Sole Club, Sole City's exclusive membership? What does it have to offer?
• A lifetime badge showing that you were one of the first on Sole City.
• 75 or 100 SC's (Sole Credits) depending on which package you purchase.
• An ultrarare furniture pack - only given to the first 100 Sole Club Members.
• Early access to the Sole City Client.
• Sole City Name Grab! (You can claim one of the best names on the Sole City client for yourself).
• Special Access to special areas of the forums.
• Extra forum inbox space.
• Special Clothing and Accessories on the client.
• A special coloured forum username.
There have been a large amount of hopeful chats starting - which many end up failing. How will Sole City try to avoid this stereotype of new MMOCCs failing within the first couple months? Will there be public previews of development graphic and programming wise? Anything we should look forward to?
Well, one way we will try to avoid the stereotype of the many failing MMOCCs is by releasing previews to our citizens regularly and being honest in where we are in the development of the client. Also, I feel management of the community and the team is integral, so I hope to be able to manage everything effectively and professionally but of course, I have to keep it FUN! As I said before we will be releasing public previews as often as possible and we may even give a free to use day on the BETA sometime, which will mean that those who haven’t purchased Sole Club will be able to get a feel of the City and also see what they are missing!
Any MMOCCs you regularly visit other than Sole City?
The one I visit the most is Fusion City, that’s where I was when I decided to create my own MMOCC.
How would you describe your moderation style?
The Sole City moderators – are all part of the younger generation, meaning they are in touch with the major part of the users of the community. They are all professional and are all unbiased meaning that they can be fair in all situations. Oh, and of course, they all know how to have fun!
Tell us something we don't already know about you.
Something you don’t know about me… Hmm… My birthday is May 4th and my favourite colour is ‘Blue’ but then again, you can probably guess that from the site lol!
If you were to add one feature to any MMOCC, what would it be? Why?
I guess of the top of my head, earning credits by winning live competitions inside the client.
Any advice to those wanting to start their own virtual chat?
Have a clear idea of what you want to achieve and what you want to bring to your community, also keep it clean and professional but at the same time, it’s really important to get it right in the middle, because with those two ingredients – you have a recipe for success.
Where do you see the MMOCC market in ten years?
I see total 3D and also 1st person views.
Where do you see Sole City in ten years?
I see Sole City having a great strong community with a massive population and all of our citizens enjoying the Sole City experience. However, I’m no fortune teller.
What does the future hold for Mr. Valiant?
That’s hard; I’m hoping to have a great community to show off and also having lots of degrees and qualifications. Also I would like to think that I will be able to learn lingo and be able to help other communities grow and boom, like I’m sure Sole City will!
